Obama Nominates Christopher Hart as NTSB Chairman

Thursday, July 3, 2014

President Obama has recently nominated Christopher Hart for his choice as the next Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Hart is currently the Vice Chairman of the NTSB, and he has been a member of the NTSB since 2009.

Although he has not been a part of the NTSB for a long time, he does have an extensive history in the safety and oversight industry. Before joining the NTSB, Hart was the Deputy Director for Air Traffic Safety Oversight at the Federal Aviation Administration. He also held a position with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the early 90’s. Along with his work history, Hart has earned degrees from both Princeton University, and Harvard Law School.

With Obama’s nomination, Hart is now awaiting his confirmation by the Senate. If he is confirmed, he will succeed former Chairman Deborah Hersman. To learn more about Christopher Hart, check out his bio here. Metro Magazine also does a great write up about this story, learn more here
